The last time I had a truck steer easier one way than the other, it was the steering box. A rebuilt box and it was good to go.

My box started doing the same thing a few moths ago. Running it since. Threw a new pump on and nothing. Now it binds at full turn left. And u got to mussel the wheel back 1 or 2 turns. Only left tho. So today I ordered a red head box for 290 ship. Local auto store wanted 280 for a remaned one. I have heard nothing but good from read head.

You'll know when you have to muscle it both ways. And there will be no fluid left in it. Mine blew a line, needed a flush any way but not on the shoulder of I55

I called red head directly. There was also a 100 core charge but I'm use to them so I don't count that!

My wifes 96 7.3 has trouble to, im not sure what it is, it has a lot of play before it steers both ways, id say a about 3 or 4 inches of play there, its hard to keep on the road, ball joints are good everything is solid with all of the steering arms, and its stiff to i have been told its the steering gearbox, i was thinking it was the pump myself but im not for sure, any ideas?

Check the rag joint, and where the rag joint bolts to the gearbox.I have had the bolt that pinches the joint onto the gear box shaft work loose.
