Ok looking to replace the 2BBL Stock carb on the truck - might as well replace the intake while at it. This is what I am thinking - let me know if I am off my rocker.
Going to keep the EGR - to minimize messing with the timing - so I am getting the Edlebrock 8053 plate to adapt to 4BBL
Carb - 4 BBL 600CFM manual choke - Edelbrock 1405
Intake - Edelbrock performer 3721
Should be an afternoon job right?
Is 600CFM too much on a 302?
I am assuming I can use my 2BBL EGR with this adapter plate
oh sorry the truck has headers and 2.25 exhaust no cats
Thanks. Yeah, that'll work. 'not sure about the EGR thingy but sounds like you've got most of the handle on it. 600 is a lil big but still OK on a 302.
Just a coupla notes....
Verify the heater hose fitting on top of the new manifold is the same size as your existing manifold. IIRC, some aftermarket manifolds have a bigger hole.
Wanna keep the intake looking good? Then spray it with high-temp clear to seal up its texture. 'makes wiping off smudges and stuff is waaaaaay easier.
Do a 1/4-mile run to establish a baseline ET. Then do the same 1/4-mile afterwards and compare. Then post your results so others can be made aware of the improved performance!

I would skip the egr part and get a regular manifold. The old stock 2bbl was tuned for egr, the new 4bbl and intake aren't so why deal with that? Little cheaper too.
