I have a 83 with the inline 6. 4 speed manual. 77,000 original miles bought from original owner. I have replaced master cylinder, brake booster, battery, had drive shaft built new yoke and u joints. It has a 4 inch suspension lift with 35's. Not a for mud just looks. What other mods do you guys recommend ect?? I only put the best on my stuff. Let's hear what you would do. Thanks

You won't need a 4" with 35". And depending in your gears. My 85 with the t18 and 3.54 gears had no problem with my 36" tires or my 33" I have on now. The 36 I wanted a lift to look better, but didn't need one. These 33" look like aggressive stock tires

If it runs good,. I would not do anything. If there is something cosmetic you want to do, then spend your money on that.

Among other modifications that I am doing to mine, I am adding some items that were stock and/or options on other models of the same vintage. Here's a link to some of the mods that I am doing to mine; https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...build-log.html

And welcome to the club/forum.

Forgive my ignorance? What is a Redhead Steer Box? And why do you highly recommend it?

From what I understand the Redhead box is a company named Redhead that rebuilds these boxes to very high standards. But like most things you pay for it also.

I called them and they wanted my old steering box and $250 for another one. Or $250 to rebuild mine. I would like to know how one knows that they need their steering box rebuilt. Does your truck drift on the road? Feel sloppy? Just how do you know? And can you help your steering by using the $60 steering stabilizer kit from LMC Truck? Would that help keep the vibrations from destroying your current power steering box? Or after you rebuild it (can you do it yourself?) add the steering stabilizer to keep your box from wearing out a second time?

I really don't know what to look for on a steering stabilizer box or even what the slot screwdriver looking adjustment on top of it does. I do think my truck with the steering tightened up would be a lot more fun to drive.
Any comments???

Please tell me. What is the difference since you put in the new box? Does it feel tight like my BMW? Does it go down the road straighter, so when you take your eyes off the road you don't find yourself on the turtles?? That is what I call the little dome things that vibrate your truck if you get to far over on either side.

What bilstein shocks are y'all using?
If you look it up by the truck and year they give you 4600 or 5100 series but no shocks show up for the 5100, any part numbers would be great( f250 4x4 l6). Will this cause it to sag badly with some weight in the back?

I knew I needed a rebuilt one because oil was spewing out of the seal on the bottom. If your truck drives ok with no play in the steering and you are not fighting it down the road, then it should be ok. If you have play in the steering, it could be many things. If you have slop in the steering wheel, and when it's lightly wiggled back and forth, the input to the shaft is wiggling the same, but the pitman arm coming out of the box is not moving at all, then you probable need a rebuilt box.
