I found an injector in my 1990 7.3 IDI diesel leaking today, can I replace just one injector if only one is leaking fuel or do they all need to be replaced?
This is a truck I got last weekend and am planning to sell soon, do you think replacing just the o rings on the injector would stop the leak, I took it out and sealed the threads to the leak has to be because of the o rings or the piece the fuel likes connect to
Oh, so you mean leaking externally? Usually, when someone says "leaking injector" I think of internally leaking, which will cause a knock. Yes, I would try replacing the o-rings and return lines first. That is a very common maintenance item on the IDI, and you can buy a kit to do it all on eBay:
yep, leaking externaly on top of the motor, somewhere between the threads that screw into the block and the hard line on top of the injector, ill give o rings aq shot first, thanks for the help
