Turning your wheels at a 90 degree (or near) angle will make the tires squeak especially at very low speeds like getting into a parking space, this is normal. The grinding noise of course is mechanical, if the trucks are front wheel drive (which they're not) then I would say maybe the CV joints (constant velocity) If there's someone more mechanically inclined to please jump in, there's a joint of some sort with a boot cover, similar to a CV joint. Perhaps that's what these noise are coming from?
I have all of these problems. Have not had a chance to get to a dealer. I figure if it breaks, I'll call Ford & they can come get the piece of dung (nope, don't much care for the 03 I'm driving)
Ok, I took my truck in and there is a (recall) or SB on the front end differential that causes the wheels to spin differently. They replaced a spring and all is ok now. Take it in and have them pull up the SB for the 03 trucks. They will see it.
