I have 2001 expy EB, 46,000 mi.. the auto down driver window just quit working. no whine ,no sputter, no warning, no nothing. before I drive into the dealer and they tell me it thats it's 3-4 hundred bucks to replace the motor. could it possibly be something else? i.e. a fuse or a relay? anyone w/ the same problem. suggestions would be appriciated.
I've been having the same problem allthough mine is intermitten. Its working right now but it stopped working a couple times. I have no idea what causes it. I hear a click that sounds like its coming from the fuse box when I hit the window buttton. This only happens when the window is not working.
Is it just the auto down, or the window does not work at all? There are seperate fuses and/or relays for the auto down, check both the fuse box under the hood & dash for a fuse/relay first.
the driver window doesn't work at all. all the others are fine. I hear that clicking from the dash fuse box when I press it. I've located the relay in the inside fuse box (relay 4) but, I read though the manual and I can't figure out which fuse #'s control the power window. (I don't really want to pull them one by one). how do you know if a relay is bad?
If a relay clicks when you operate the switch, it should be fine. I would pull the door panel, and hook up a voltmeter to the end of the window motor leads. If it shows 12-14v when you operate the switch, then you know the motor is bad. Remember the polarity of the wres will reverse when you operate the switch in either direction. If it shows no voltage, then your problem is elsewhere.
