Hello SoCal chapter whats up? Ive got a 1955 f-100 that Ive been working on since Oct 8th 2010. My project seems like it has almost been done for a very long time. I have a 360 FE that from what i was told by the PO came out of a 1968 police interceptor. Per the numbers the block reads to be a '68 352 block with '66 428 heads
and according to the bore and stroke its a 360 thats been bored .60 over. i did a frame off rebuild on my own while i was on active duty and had some free time between training and deployments etc which was very tricky as ive never done anything like this before. I have come a long way, my truck (fat nose kate) is now virtually rust free and has a sleek ultra low gloss black with red accents paint job. One thing i regret was having never touched any wiring when i had her all apart. I am now out of the military and am slowly trying to get her finished so my wife to be and i can use fat nose kate as our get away car after our wedding in 18 days! Is there anyone out there who is a wiring guru? I have a few questions if you can help me out.
You named your truck after Doc Holliday's girlfriend. I think you can get cool points for that somewhere
Welcome to the chapter. Your best bet on the wiring stuff is definitely in the 48-56 forum, there's nothing those guys haven't seen. But in the mean time, what are your questions? I don't think any of us in here claim wiring guru status, but we might be able to help.
Welcome to socal, and that truck im sure is pretty awesome. i read your other post regarding the wiring kit and old harness confusion, and it was clearly over my head lol. But i am sure this truck will be sweet! good luck with ti
Thanks everyone, ill be sure to post pictures soon. as for the wiring, yesterday after work i believe i figured out that my starter, starter relay, and voltage regulator are all good. when i did a modified bench test of the starter i also tries using the cable that brings power from the relay to the starter. I think and hope that that cable was my problem, its a slightly smaller gauge than the power to the starter relay and when i used it during the starter bench test it barely made it spin...so today after work ill be putting all of the aforementioned parts back in but with a new thicker cable! and no the wedding is not by any fed parks and im in Mt Baldy for those of you who know where that is without google, good for you, i love it!
Your truck sounds awesome, but we gotta have pictures!
Congratulations on getting married. How nice you can escape in your 'new' truck! . In fact, it just occurred to me I went on my honeymoon in my brand new '96 f-150. We drove it up to Tahoe. Had a Great time, hope you do too...wherever you're going.
Good luck,
Karl

Reason: I messed up.

I have a 360 FE that from what i was told by the PO came out of a 1968 police interceptor.
Per the numbers the block reads to be a '68 352 block with '66 428 heads.
360: 1968/76 F100/350 only .. not installed in cars.
1967 last year for 352, 360/390 share the same block, the bore is the same (4.05"), the stroke is different. 360 = 3.50" - 390 = 3.78."
352 cast on the block doesn't mean squat, it's a foundry mark only, as all FE engines were cast as 352's.
1968 Galaxie/LTD/Mercury Police Cruiser could have come w/a 390 or 428.
Ford called some mid-late 1960's 390's and 428's "Interceptors" none are hipos.
People go 'ga-ga' when they see Interceptor decals on air cleaners, but there's nothing to get excited about, most are 390 2V's.
Casting numbers on FE blocks/heads are WORTHLESS for ID'ing the engine size or what they're from.
Casting numbers cannot be cross referenced to Ford part numbers.
