6.0 Advice

I am bringing my truck to the dealership tomorrow to get a service done they suggested doing an antifreeze service as well is this important to do. Also they said they can do a fuel injector service as well. Anything else I should have them look at. I also just went back to stock after running a flashpaq programmer.

Flushing the cooling system usually risks clogging up the oil cooler. If that's what they mean by service... Id just empty and refill. And a fuel injector service? did they say theyre gunna pull each one and inspect or something? I don't know what they mean by fuel injector service either. So what are you bringing it in for? Id suggest oil change w synthetic (lightest oil is best for injectors) new oem oil filter fuel filters and air filter. Check for codes

Ride is correct. Just do a drain and refill with a 50/50 mix of Ford Gold, Zerex G-05 is the same, change the oil to 5w40 synthetic and use all OEM filters. Walmart is the cheapest on the Rotella T6 syn. oil. Dieselfilteronline.com is one of the cheapest for OEM filters. For the fuel and oil get the Racor filters. They make them for Motorcraft. Ext. tranny filter is NTZ and the air filter is the Donaldsn with blue media. Incidentally, if you don't have gauges you need to get at least a ScanGauge ll and monitor your ect, eot and voltage values. Those are very important to the health of your truck and wallet.

Scangauge2 can be found at Auto zone for about $160. Mine has save me a couple hundred dollars in diagnostic testing and I've only had it for a year. So I guess its already paid for itself.

Tell them to clean your turbo and egr valve. No BS. it needs to be done. Don't let them sell you on new ones. $250 for egr valve and $1000 for anything with the turbo. Hesitation in acceleration, the first thing I look at is my turbo and boost.

No!!!!! Do not use Ford Gold!!!! Hasn't there been enough written about why this is a bad idea? Drain the system. Rinse and use a high-quality ELC.

I have no idea why you would do a "fuel injector service" unless you had a bad injector. You can replace the EGR valve for less than $250. Local Ford dealers only carry remans and they are pretty cheap. But, again, unless it is throwing a code, it is opening and closing- so I do not know why you would mess with it.

Did I mention, DO NOT USE FORD GOLD... Just checking...

I'll bet the Injector service is the dealer's Wynn's injector cleaner....which isn't a bad ideal.

Other than items mentioned such as turbo/egr valve coaking, there could be some injector stiction. Incidentally, these two can be performed by you in your driveway.

Have you been running any DieselKleen in the tank? When have you changed the OEM fuel filters last....every 10k MILES.

What are your FICM volts , minimum 46 volts (here's another valuable PID you can read using a Scangauge II). How old are the batteries? Are you still under any manufacturers warranty? Remember Emissions warranty is 8 years or 80K miles (whichever occurs first), which covers the Turbo, EGR cooler, EGR valve, FICM.

Fuel pressure gauge....are you seeing a minimum of 45psi.?

I am putting my flashpaq programmer on Craigslist today and I am going to purchase the scan gauge from auto zone.
