One of my friends has remote start in his 96 powerstroke, he activates it which turns on the power pretty much allowing the glow plugs to cycle and the air dogs to as well and then he pushes it to start, i dont know if they all are set up that way but his works well and it is way odd to watch that old 96 start up like that without a driver hahaha
i have a viper. you can set the glow time and crank time on the diesel units. gas units use a spark trigger to turn off the starter. the diesel units use a crank timer.
