New wheels

I went I got my 1944 ford 1 1/2 ton truck this weekend. I payed $100 for it 5 years ago and it's been setting at my bothers house all this time. I am going to start on it by seeing if I can get it to start. It ran when it was parked back in 1969. The brakes are not locked up. If I want to replace the spit rim on it. Where can I get them. They are 5 lug 8". Tire size is 20"x7.5.
Thanks.

If you choose to keep the old rims and tires, Nebraska tire sells the 7.5-20 tires for $150 each (tire and flap). I just bought two last week, and got them mounted on the rims today.

Look in the 48-60 classifieds. I can help with a set of one piece tubeless 19.5s, and there is to my recall still an ad for a set of 22.5s. Stu

your whatever pad/cell thing or home computer.
Few of us look in the users Gallery or album as you can see by your recent visitors.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
The best photos and videos | Photobucket

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

Here's a tutorial Bob put together: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/67...-pictures.html Bob's link is not working. Can someone in the know tell me why?

How to upload pictures to the FTE Forums. - YouTube. Thanks Sam Rusty_Old_F250. Best we can find is that this video was done by Gundown64

We live in a very small town in Iowa. Last week a guy here in town called my wife and asked if I was looking for some wheels for that truck that is in the drive way. He has 6 of the tubeless 19.5 rims. What is a fair price for them? They are in good shape very little rust. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I also had some time with the truck this weekend. I got it to turn over by hand. The horn works. Made my day. <o></o>

Wow! In your home town meaning you don't have to drive hours or days to find them, no shipping costs, and probably already off the donor meaning you don't have to bust your knuckles or wreck your back. And heck, maybe he'll even deliver them! You'll want to know if they have tires mounted, and whether they are weather checked, or otherwise worn out. If they have good tires anything under $200 each is reasonable, when you add in the other variables. You've seen my ads in the classified section and can see what I get for bare wheels. Plus there will generally be $200 or more shipping on a pallet of six wheels. Sounds to me like you have a bargain waiting for you. Stu

Well I ended up buying a 1970 step van this weekend. I wanted the wheels on it. It has the 5 lug 19.5 x7 non split rims. They have some good tires on them. I also come with the 6 split rims that came on it. Anyone looking for a drive train out of step van? Or the step van it’s self? I think it has a 350 ford in it. It has one bad head gasket and the steering is very bad. That’s what I was told. I am thinking about making storage shed out of the truck.

Do the split rims have tires on them, and would you consider selling those if they are decent?

Yes the split rims do have tires on them. I was told one of the tires was bad. I looked at the rims they look good. I didn't look at the tires very good. I will try and get some pictures of them.

What does a set of 6 split rims go for. They are the kind with the ring on the outside.

I don't know either... I was going to base my offer on the condition of the tires, as I am more interested in them.
