Bought my new 2003 F150 Sport last month. Friday nite someone decided they needed mirrors for their truck and stole both of mine. I'm now left looking at the outer shell. No glass and NO connecting clips (the thieves were good).
The glass with the connectors seem to just pop out of the housing. Ford says I can't replace the glass without the connectors, they don't sell just the connectors and I would have to buy the whole mirror unit @ $202.00 @ plus tax.
Anyone have any ideas where I can find replacement parts without having to give up an arm and a leg?
Have you tried going through your insurance company to see what they'll pay for? If it was at your home then also look into home owners insurance, it usually covers anything that's on the property...at least it did at my dad's house a couple years back...
There are some pretty cheap ford body part sites on the net. You may wind up just buying whole new mirror assemblies. But, if it would help out any, I may be able to help you somewhat.
I just knocked my Driver side power mirror off my custom 97, me and this other guy smacked mirrors head on at about 60 mph. It was crazy. Anyways, it looks as if I will probably be buying a new driver side mirror(the whole deal) because some main parts of mine are broken. The whole mirror outside shell broke off and landed on the side of the road, and the glass and connectors flew through the open window, hit between the seats and landed in the passenger floorboard.
If I get a new mirror (probably) I'll have absolutely no use for the connectors on the driver side one. Shoot me an email at justo2000_20000(No Email Addresses In Posts!) I should know pretty soon what I'm going to do.
Thanks for all the input. I am keeping an eye on E-bay. I've contacted several "junk" yards, but no luck as this vehicle is too new. I've run into the same thing online.
Unfortunately (according to Ford) the 2002 is the only model that has the same mirrors as the 2003.
I've been in contact with the insurance co. With deductable, I'm going to end up paying for most of it myself.
J.Bird - may just take you up on those connectors, if for nothing else, find out what is so special about them that they aren't sold separately.
I'll keep trying - this thing of driving that truck without mirrors isn't any fun at all. Traffic and the drivers in it here are TERRIBLE!
Manual mirrors - clips maybe? These things attach to the glass, then the whole thing fits into round slots inside the mirror housing.
Guess you could say it's the part that holds the glass into the housing.
