There is just enough of the cap left to reinstall it, and when the hub cap is installed it will also help keep the cap in place not that it is needed just because its close. If you were to use a 1/2 spacer, you wouldn't need to cut the cap, but you would have to replace the wheel studs with longer pieces. One last thing There is no such thing as a stupid question be a male or female! The only stupid thing to do is not to ask questions. Questions are how we all learn, without them where would we be? So don't be embarrassed, shy, feel silly, to ask, that is the whole reason this forum is here, to share ones experiences with one another.
koolkat…we are very geographically close (I am in Hudsonville), would you mind sharing what machine shop you used for the wheel spacers?

wheel spacers

Its fun to find you live so close. I live in the Northveiw School District. My daughter was Drum Major for the Marching Band for the 2011/12 year. Anyway My truck had the stock wheels on it when I bought it. Ford used a very narrow 5.5" wide wheel on the F100 trucks. On the early 60's F100 anyway, if you look at the truck from the rear, they look pigeon toed. I didn't want that look for my truck so I bought 4 new 8" wide hoops from Speedway Motors. I removed the inne centers from my wheels and had a machine shop install them in the new hoops with the back spacing that I wanted. The front wheels look like a regular set of wheels that may come on a newer truck. The rear wheels are reversed so they are centered in the rear wheel tubs. Now when you look at the back of my truck it looks as it should have from the factory. The best part is that I can still use the stock bottle top caps that the truck came with and the wheels still have all of the factory Ford identification stampings that would normally show. It was just unfortunate that the caps wouldn't fit with the front disc upgrade. That is why I had the spacers made. I don't have the name of the shop but I will get it for you. What engine and trans does your truck have? I have the 292 cruiseomatic combo, its from CA. and is very solid. I am in the process of making it nicer than it was. It doesn't look as nice as yours, may be some day. Funny thing I had my wheels powder coated red also. I will get back with you as soon as I get a name, I have some other work to take to him soon. Take care.
