F250 5.4 Performance

I have a 2007 F250 5.4l ext cab. I am pretty unfamiliar with this engine, but I use it quite often so I'm not looking for ridiculous amounts of modifications. Mostly what I want to know is what kinds of aftermarket performance parts I should look into for this truck. I'm mostly looking at intakes and exhaust systems but fitting seems to be an issue. I Mostly want more power but increased mph never hurt. Since it's the F250, I haven't seen many people posting on what parts they're getting. Any other ideas or input on things I should look into will help.

best thing to do... is proper maintenance.

check your door tag for the axle code....if you trailer often and you have a 3:55 axle ratio....then you would be happier with 4:10 minimum...if you trailer heavier loads...then a higher numeric number will be better (4:56 or 4:88)

a tuner will help firm things up as well...giving the butt dyno a better feel

Intake mods are probably not going to do much but but lighten you wallet.

Exhaust mods....some gains can be had but with Long tube headers only and then some what minor improvements....with the LTH comes a hefty price of modifying the entire exhaust system.

really it depends on you what you want to gain & how much $$$ you can throw at it.

do a gear swap and leave EVERYTHING else alone, the intake on Fords flow more than the motor will ever need so keep your money, exhaust wont do anything either but give you louder exhaust. Ive been through three different exhaust, different intake, installed headers etc etc custom tuner and the ONLY thing that helps the 5.4 motor is swapping in lower gears

^ what he said. seems like weve both tried pretty much everything possible on our 5.4s and its all a waste of money. (besides the y pipe, but that doesnt apply to your 2007). Gears ftw
