Well CG it would really depend on your truck? Does it have a chip or performance mods or just stock! Are you going to be towing heavy or lite loads. If your truck has been modded up you should have at least a EGT and boost is nice and if Auto trans a trans temp gauge! If you really want to go bananas you can add Fuel pressure oil temp the skies the limit. Let us know what yer gonna do!
The EGT is exhaust gas temp! with a chip will help you not to meltdown your engine! Absolute must with chip! There are a lot of posts here on gauges ! do a search and enlighten yourself!BTW: You will love the chip!!
I have fuel pressure, boost, trans temp, EGT, coolant temp, and an Areo Force gauge which can monitor a butt load of stuff. I have it set to injector control pressure and engine oil temp.
I find myself using the engine oil temp gauge the most. Handy for cold starts and getting to know how long I need to leave the glow plugs on, lets me know when the truck hasn't warmed up fully if I'm short tripping it a lot, etc.
I have a DP Tuner and the EGT never gets high, but I also don't tow either.
Dual egt gauges let you monitor both sides of the engine not just one. Having dual egt gauges has saved my truck a couple times and had helped me trouble shooting at least a dozen times. That's just me and call me over **** if you want I don't care. The guys running duals will agree.
I just expanded my army of gauges...
Now i got...
Glowshift maxtow double vision -
Egt 1500*x2 , fuel pres, boost 60pst, oil temp, water temp, trans temp
You would be a good candidate to read the Chip Chasers thread. I have a link to it in my signature - just click at the bottom of my post, where it says "Custom Tunes". Chips and gauges are discussed in depth there.
I am new to the PSD but I just added a quad set from glow shift with egt, trans, boost, fuel pressure. For you guys that are running 7-8 gauges etc where are they going? I wouldn't mind monitoring some more vitals but not sure for the best placement
