Hi guys, This is odd. I've got a '96 f150 4x4 Off Road auto.
Because It only has 15,000 documented miles on it, I went and ordered the letter from ford showing how it was built. (The only thing I don't have is the window sticker) The letter shows that it has the 4R100 transmission instead of the expected E40D behind the 351w. Reading these boards, I see that the 4R100 was the upgraded, and replacement, for the E4OD in 98 and should not be in it. How can I better verify what trans I have? Is there a telltale label somewhere? Is there a physical difference? Or are Fords records inaccurate?.... The pan has 20 bolts as they both do. TIA
