Hello, I just joined the site after a days of lurking. I recently purchased an 89 F150, 4x4, 300-6 (I refuse to call it a 4.9 ). Decent old truck for the midwest only one small rust spot above one wheel well. I'm not new to the Blue Oval, had many back in my high school years, most of them were FE's but I did have a couple 300's also. I've also owned and still own a mix of Government Motors and a Pentastar or two. I'll continue to do lots of searching for answers to my questions, undoubtedly I'll need to ask more, likely most will be "where do I get one of these?", or "what is this called?". Looks like I will enjoy it here, seems to be a pretty good breadth of knowledge. And on the part you've all been waiting for:

Neither do I.
I intend to. BTW that's a sharp looking WD (45?) in your avatar. Pic is too small for me to tell for sure which. Had an unstyled WC with WD sheetmetal on it a few years back.

straight wd, its my pulling tractor and i do well with it. i prefer the early wd vs the late wd and wd45 due to its trans, the early wd trans wont pop out of gear when it gets old and worn

Welcome! And I agree, Ford never made a 4.9 (or a 5.8 or 7.5 for that matter). Those are 300's, 351's and 460's, translated for Europeans. I will accept that Ford made a 5.0 for the Mustangs, but they continued to put 302's in trucks.

I'm assuming you pull in the antique class with the speed limits? Those Allis' absolutely rule that division. My wife's grandfather has been an Allis dealer since the late 50's, then Agco and now Massey, but they're still truckin along.

yup, antique class, 2.5 mph which fits 1st gear perfect, i will speed at the beginning of the 3500 cuase it doesnt have a load on it yet.
