reason i ask is i like the look of the classic wheel. and if it will fit i'll fix my stock colum. if it won't fit i'll just get a chrome ididit column with tilt. but i would prefer to keep the retro look.

If your asking if just the steering wheel will fit from a '67 thru '70 onto a '71? It should, I know a '71 and '72 will fit a earlier '67 thru '70 column.

i wonder if i can restore my stock column then. i can buy the horn and wheel parts easily just wasn't sure if it would bolt up. should i hire a repair shop to install the parts since i need a new turn signal switch? i thnk wires need pulled threw column and i don't think my back could hold out long enough for me to do it.

It's easy to pull them with this trick. Use the old switch wires to pull the new wires through. After you remove the old switch pull it and it's wires at you a little to get more wire to work with. Cut the old switch off. Now butt the gang of old wires and new wires together end of wires to end of wires. Use electrical tape to bridge them together. The hole they have to go through is pretty small so don't build up the tape too much in one spot. I personally wrap the tape tight 3 or 4 inches in both directions from the bridge. Now slowly and carefully pull the old wires down towards the floor and they will pull the new wires through. Replace the old wires with new wires at the plug down there one at a time to make sure you keep the color coded wires in the same spot.

What won't/will work? Post 1: First you asked if a 1967/70 wheel will work on a 1971/72 column. Then in post 4, you wonder if you can restore your stock column.

So, I gave you the applications for the 2 & 3 spoke steering wheels, horn ring/button, vinyl horn pad.

Gave you the part numbers/applications for the late 1969 & 1970/72 T/S switch and the 1961/72 horn brush and insulator.

Getting ready to do the same thing on my 72, how did it go?

Anyone know if the horn will work without manipulating?

The horn setup on the original is crapola, IMHO. I went with a new wheel and a "button" to ring the horn. YMMV...

Looks good!

I already bought the new 61-70 wheel with horn ring setup, always liked that style. Not afraid to get creative and rig a button somewhere if I have to, but I'm hoping it's compatible...
