Come on boys...Papi does have a glove...I think you'll be surprised at how good a first baseman he really is. The magic number is 3...for both teams...boys...we have a series!!!
They aren't gonna take the bat out of Papi's hands, no way. This is the AL remember? no small ball. Napoli will see some play if they are winning late.
I hope it goes 7 too, I love baseball cause it's on every day. Not like the NFL where they play 16 games in 18 weeks.
But do you sit Napoli down to play Papi? I think the team is better off using Ortiz to pinch hit if it gets tight later in the game.
I hope it goes 7, not quite ready for baseball to be done for the year.
Yepper...Papi has been more effective than Napoli at the plate...both regular season and playoffs. Napoli has turned into a better than average fielding first baseman. Look for Papi in games 3 & 5...Napoli in game 4.

Correct...you'll see Napoli as a defensive replacement in at least 2 of the games. Just my opinion...Farrell hasn't consulted with me.

BoSox keep the Cards from smashing the hell out of Peavy with the bases loaded and none out. Card go ahead, twice, and the BoSox tie it up, twice! Then it ends on that third base obstruction call. Amazing!
I don't have a problem with the obstruction call...what I wonder about is how much real estate Craig is entitled to. He was a good couple of feet inside the baseline when he broke for home. Try doing that running down to first and you'll be the one called for obstruction.
This is one we're gonna be hearing about for a loooong time.
Awful way to lose a World Series game...as has been pointed out...Craig was not on the base line...despite Jim Joyce's post game statement..."He was directly on the chalk"!!! If you watch the replays...I'm sure there are some out there...it appears as if Craig took Middleton's feet out from under him during the slide. They then got tangled up...and the call was made. The throw wasn't that bad...Middleton should have come off the bag to get it.
Not...however why the Saawx lost...I think in retrospect...they should have walked Jay loading the bases to get to Kozma...ground ball gets the double play.
It's a series...no one said it would be easy...pretty exciting game overall.
A great reason why the instant replay should be used during play off games. In this case, the ump's judgement cost the sox the game, someone was going to be happy and someone was going to be mad, it's the game.
As far as I'm concerned, Middlebrooks was obstructed from making a clean play when Salty threw down to 3rd. Then the runner was obstructed by Middlebrooks while he was trying to stand up and get back in the play, They should have cancelled each other out and the runner should have been awarded 3rd base with two outs.

Instant replay would have resoundingly upheld the call.

I disagree. Obstruction doesn't have to be intentional. It wasn't a judgement call (subjective) in my opinion. The rule was objectively applied to a perfect scenario in which obstruction occurred.

No such rule.
Runners have, going from first to second, been hit many times when the first baseman's throw to second hits them. The runner isn't out, and in fact if the ball bounces far enough away, the runner can take third.

I don't disagree...just a tough time to make the call...the World Series!!! The biggest question...in my mind...was whether Craig was in the basepath or not. Despite the ump's declaration that he was "Right on the chalk"...he clearly wasn't.
Second strange call...the first being the reversal in game one.
Play on boys...first to 4 are World Series Champions!!!
