So after replacing a 5.0 And getting that to to run right, now runs perfect after rebuilt heads , and now that the engine runs great the transmission seems weird , it will make some noises at idle in drive at lights sometimes , and the other thing is it's not shifting properly , it revs higher than it used to before it would shift if I can get it to , I can rev to 2000 at 30mph and not gain speed or shift , before the swap it was fine , would shift fine , now it just seems to not be shifting right , could something have been thrown out of adjustment ? Maybe the rod linkage on the drivers side of the trans ?
I really need help here , I'm not very educated on my AOD trans ,
Ok so I adjusted that and it didn't seem to do anything .. Idk if the spring might be bad in it or what , but what's weird is , that when you drive it won't shift gears unless you take your foot off the gas for a second , if you didn't it would just rev to high hell in 1st... Idk what's wrong , the engine in it is built up, maybe that is affecting it idk
Any help is greatly appreciated
Did you use the flexplate that came with the truck or something else? The AOD requires a very specific flexplate and if you accidentally used one from an E4OD or C6 you will have damaged the transmission oil pump and sent metal shaving throughout the trans... which means it now needs a rebuild.
