I have a 1999 ford f150 234,000 it has never not cranked or given me any trouble. I went to start it. It cranked and for a second then shut down. I have read thru some posts and done some testing. Here is what I have found.
1- It has 40lbs of fuel pressure I don't know if it is enough.
2- will start on contact cleaner;
3- no codes
4- antitheft is flashing goes off when the key is installed.
Everything in my mind says fuel pump ( still original pump ) But want to be 100% sure is there anything else I should check?
Some common sense is in order here.
If you measure 40 psi fuel pressure the fuel pump has to be ok.
Yes, adding some combustible in the absence of normal fuel and the motor fires tells you the ignition is also present.
This leaves the PATS system.
Put your key in, turn to run but do not crank.
Leave it a few minutes in that state and watch the Theft light.
Does it flash a two digit code?
If yes tell us what you count.
It may be some other issue but start here.
Good luck.
