Steering Problem...

I'm having a steering problem with my F-250 which I have searched and searched and have not been able to find a solution.

Here's the problem: When I turn left I have normal steering with normal resistance. When I turn right there is almost no resistance and I can spin the wheel with one finger, then it will usually go back. It's like having super power steering in one direction. In the past (in different vehicles) I have seen this happen but it was equal in both directions, not one or the other.

This started 1 week ago (9/16/2013). I have checked all the ball joints and tie rod ends and all are well greased and tight. I have checked it with 4x4 on and off with no change. I do not have the original locking hubs, replaced then with manual Mile Marker hubs.

I have read several threads saying if there is a lot of resistance going one direction or another it would be the steering gear box. However, mine is basically the opposite. No resistance going one direction and normal resistance going in another direction. I have not found any threads with this issue. (If I have over looked a thread, I apologize, please direct me to it.)

Past work:

In July 2013 I had an alignment done after replacing the Pitman Arm tie rod end to Right Inner tie rod end (Moog Part #'s: ES3427T, DS1438 and ES3426S)

In May 2012 I replaced the following parts on the front end:
Both upper and lower Ball Joints (Moog: K80026 & K8607T)
Both front U-Joints (MOOG/Precision: 374)
Both Axle Shaft Seals (SKF: 28600 & 21918)
Both Axle Hub O-Rings (SKF: 4A322)
Both Axle Shaft Bearings (Timken: B2110)
Both All Shocks (Rancho: RS999267 & RS999273

Vehicle Info:
2003 Ford F-250 4x4 FX4 Lariat
6.0 Diesel
Stock Height
Stock Tire Size

If there is anything else you need to know, please ask.

Thanks in advance for all your help,

-Bill

Bill sounds like the steering box pressure assist valve is sticking or is restricted one side...if you want to confirm the box just remove the power steering belt and take it for a quick/short drive [no need to go far or if it will do it at idle you can just turn the wheel and see if it changes].

There maybe a way to remove the assist part of the steering box and service/clean it out perhaps saving you some bucks....
