Well my 03 has had broken exhaust manifold studs on the pass side for 3 years. I knew I was on borrowed time. Finally it started getting noisy so I took it in to have it fixed. 5 studs were broken off in the head. They removed all the studs, resurfaced the manifold and replaced all the studs and nuts. Cost me 550 bucks!! ouch! Then shortly after that a u joint in my rear drive shaft started squeeking. Took it in. Ended up that all 3 u joints were bad and the slip yoke splines were sloppy. Had to have the drive shaft completly rebuilt and balanced. 370 bucks!!!! This is the only money that I have ever had to put into my truck so I guess it was bound to happen but boy does it hurt my wallet!!!!
"Ouch" is right!
I feel very blessed that all of my exhaust manifold studs are still in one piece and holding at 89K miles. I do know that it really is just a matter of time before I will have to cross this same bridge though.
Sorry you got hit twice in such a short amount of time, but what you said is true... compared to others, you have not spent near as much money on your V10 as you could have by now.

Reason: Spelling error.
That does suck that it has come all at once, but as mentioned before thats not bad considering the age of the truck. I have about 800 dollars worth of work to do to my truck and thats with me doing the labor.
I will say that I like how much quieter it is and it drives nice with no vibration from the driveshaft. I think my biggest mistake was letting it sit almost a year without driving it.
You mention something here that I often wonder about...
You talked about driveline vibration and how it is smooth since you had it rebuilt and balanced. "Balanced" being the word I am focusing on here.
I had a slight vibration in my F150 years ago. Took it to a driveline shop that had the big machine that spins the shaft so they can balance it. I could not believe the wobble to that shaft straight from the factory! The man said that he had never seen a factory driveshaft that was produced properly from the factory... probably due to mass-production. Anyway, I had a Suburban that I had the same thing done on years later. On both vehicles, I was amazed at the difference after proper balancing.
I'm thinking that I need to do this to my Excursion. It also has that slight vibration thing going on at around 50 to 60 mph.
Just random thoughts!
I'm glad all is well for you now.
