I got the Pioneer TS-A6870R 3-way speakers for the front doors. One thing that bothered me was that Pioneer did not tell you how to hook the wires up. I tried attaching the wires both ways, but neither setup sounded as good as the stock speakers. The high frequencies (cymbols) were especially poor.
Does your amp have an auxiliary in? I wouldn't mind installing an amp if it had an auxiliary input so I could direct connect my iPod.
Yes it does. It's the Kenwood GMX-364 I think. Really clean sound out of it. I can crank the stereo full volume with no distortion. Gives me a head ache after a while that loud though.
Mine has a jack in it. Maybe just for linking to another amp in series. Sorry for the miss info. I need to go outside and take a look at the damn thing.
Kenwood Eschelon 6x8`s. Totally awesome sounding. I have 4 of them in my crew cab with a 4 channel fozgate amp driving them. Excellent highs and mids. I have another fosgate amp driving 2 10 inch kicker dual voice coil speakers in a custom box. I am very happy and very low distortion with good sensitivity. Cost a little more but WELL worth the money.
I put 4 Infinity kappas in mine, 5x7's in the rear and 6" in the front. I also added Dynamat to the rear of the speakers to reflect the sound into the cab and reduce road noise. They are driven by a 400W, 4 channel Clarion amp. I also have a 10" 500W MTX sub but I only drive it with a 250W MTX amp. I pretty much only listen to country music, so it adds enough bass for my enjoyment and not every other car on the road. They are connected to an Alpine system with 6 disc changer, XM ready. This system is the best I have ever owned.
