I recently purchased a 2000 Ford Excursion with a 7.3, I love the x but it has given me some trouble.
I try to start the truck, it turns, starts then stall and get a service engine light (the code was P1670 which is Electronic Feedback signal not detected and P0381 which is Glow plug light indicator circuit malfunction). I replaced the CMP sensor and the dealer that I bought it from replaced the wiring assembly and the control U? I have the parts number and they are under waranty. When I crank the car the gauges don't move I checked the fuses and they were all good. I pulled out the Instrument Cluster fuse to see if that was it, it was good put it back in and it started. The SES light turned off when I started it. The today it did the same thing, SES light on and getting the P0381 code again.
Could I have bad Glow Plugs? or what else could it be?
P.S when it runs, it runs fine no shaking or sluggish feelings
new issue just happened, I was driving the truck home and all the gauges shut off but the truck was still running. I pressed the throttle and nothing would happen, I pulled over to restart the car and I wouldnt start back up. I was able to go back and check all the fuses and I tapped the fuse box and the oil light and fuel light flickered. Got it to start and drove it the rest of the way home and now it wont start again. No gauges the only lights that turn on when I turn the key is the battery light. I think its the PCM, I checked the wiring and vacuumed out the female end of the wire, reconnected it and it still wont start.
I am going to take it to the stealership and have them run a diagnostic test.
