Hi all I have a 1998 ford f150 4x4 that I can not get to set any codes just p01000 test not ran its coming up for inspection next month so I need to get it fixed I need some help also I Auvergne a trans problem that on 3 Ed shift if I don't let off the gas it will go into neutral until I do but then it shifts any help please thanks and its has the 4.6l in it and 280,000 miles on it

You likely have at least two issues.
To see what the cause of the P1000 is you need to put a Scanner on (not a reader) and look at what PID/s have failed their diagnostic tests.
Then address those that are failing.
The trans is a different issue and not associated with the P1000 code because it's not part of the 'engine' control system but does test the transmission electrical operation so codes can be set for problems..
If the trans is an electrical issue a code will be set.
If mechanical it needs to go to a transmission shop as the computer can't tell much about the mechanical operation.
There is your start to see what problems the truck has then what to do about them..
Get the engine diagnostics cleared first, then the transmission so you can get inspection done. Inspection doesn't care about what trans issues there are.
