OK, here goes, I have just re installed a rebuilt 302 in my 89' Bronco, the vehicle has been sitting for 1.5yrs, everyting seems to go OK except for the fact that it won't start. Here is some info that might help you tell me whats wrong
I do have spark and the timing is set, It will only start if you put fuel or starting fluid into the throttle body for a brief moment.
This is what I have done, assuming its not getting fuel, I do hear the in-tank fuel pump turning on when the key is in the ON posiition, I too have pulled off the Fuel filter and verified that fuel is being pushed out of the tank.
I have pushed the fuel rail fitting on the intake to see what kind of pressure was comming out, it hardley came out, I would think 40psi would shoot out? and there is fuel comming out of the return rail, hmmmmmmmm
Could it be the external pump, how would i check it?
Could it be the injectors, but all 8, hmmmmm?
Can you give me some advise or home tests to check, And what is the most likely cause if you where to guess
I recently had a similar problem with fuel pressure. It turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator ($29.99 at national parts chain) and it solved the problem. It was a Bi%&* to reach with a hex wrench.
I had exactly the same pressure problem where the Schrader valve only squirts a little fuel and I had fuel returning in the return line. After I installed a new pressure regulator the fuel shoots up and hit the hood. Plenty of pressure.
When you install the new one there will be an injector terminal in the way. It can be moved enough to get the wrench in position. Still, it's a pain.
Based on the fact that you can get it to fire with starter fluid and the fact that fuel is returning through the fuel rail return line - I bet that is your problem.
Good luck.

well I found out that in injectors were all clogged, got it running but very very rich, lots of smoke, like its running real rich, do you think I still need to replace the regulator or run some injector cleaner
