Shift Knob on 89 Bronco

Shift **** on 89 Bronco
Now this question kinda makes me wanna hide in a corner or something, cause I am sure its a cinch. However, I cannot figure out for the life of me, how to take the **** off of the shifter in my 1989 Bronco. I cannot seem to twist it off, I can find no set screws anywhere, and if I take the little top off (the piece with the shift pattern diagram) I see nothing that even remotely appears to work. If anyone knows how - and I know you all do - Please write me back or email me. Thanks alot guys, I appreciate it.

Well I don't know how much I can help. You have the mazda 5-OD like me? When I got my bronco my shift **** wouldn't stay on the shifter. I would pull it off every time I would shift into the lower gears (2nd, 4th, reverse). I don't think the **** is held on with by anything. I think it is just jamed on there and stays put. Just try pulling straight up don't twist. Mine deffently didn't have threads with the **** removed.
