batteries

Just out of curiosity - what brand is everyone buying for batteries? I've been buying Interstate for a few years but I've been told by a few car places they aren't what they used to be.

Motorcraft..............

I use to buy AC Delco, then it was sold to Interstate.....batteries turned to crap very quickly....even the diesel crowd avoided them like the plague.

I have had very good luck with MC...both dealer pricing and reliability

me personally, i have always gone with the advance/autozone batteries...stellar warranties and they swap them out free of charge...no questions asked...even on my catalina that sits 11 months of the year.

if you want the best, you wont top odyssey batteries...but youll pay for it.

the top of the line sears die hard battery is a rebadged odyssey at a good bit of a discount bought thru sears as well.

I've had good luck with wally world. Got 8 years out of the battery in my "other" truck.

But why trust me, I know Beechkid wouldn't!

I have used many different brands of batteries throughout the years. The last one that I bought for my truck was an Optima red top. I have used some Auto-Zone and Advance Auto batteries in my other vehicles. I find that the cheaper non-name brand batteries are less expensive for a reason. Although, sometimes you can get lucky. And sometimes even the more expensive name brand batteries have issues as well. I do try to buy the ones with a longer warranty, and try to get a higher amp and starter rating than called for. Then they seem to last a little longer.

I like the Duralast batteries from Autozone. I have four in my boat, two in my X, one in my Cx9, and one in my Silverado. Only vehicle that does not have one is my Civic, and that's because I just got it.

I obviously don't swap out batteries until needed but when they do, it's always duralast. have always had really good luck with them and never left stranded even in harsh winters and/or after not using vehicles for long periods. duralast always starts up for me and if they don't, a quick jump start and I'm back in the game in a matter of seconds

Truck had dual 650 cca motorcrafts when i bought it. I run dual motorcraft 850cca now. Best batteries I've had yet. The Walmart ones didnt have enough cca when winter came around. And they only lasted 1.5 years. Didnt bother using the warranty. The were crap. Tried optima but they aren't as good as they use to be. 1 bad battery in 7 months use. Returned both for full refund. Motor crafts are awesome. More than enough cca even on the coldest days when I'm up north. Have just over a year on mine and still loving them.

I've always used the Motorcraft, however on my last purchase I put in the 850cca. They were leaking a little bit and my positive side terminal was always turning green. Dealer replaced after just 2 months and 2 months later I was seeing the green again. Finally I went back to the 750cca Motorcraft as the Parts manager requested and had no issues after that.

My new to me EX has 2 NEW no name 650cca in there now, all is good but will be changing before my winter trip.

I'm going to give the Diehard Platinums with 930cca a try.

Yes, Group 65= 11.8"(L) x 7.2"(W) x 7.4"(H). Its a bad azz battery. Every once in awhile Sears will put them on a "deal of the day" I think I paid 150$ for it last time. Odyssey charges like $290 for the same one, its made by them.

Yep, dual Group 65 Sears DieHard Platinum, i.e. repackaged Odysseys, for me too. Thinking of a 3rd in an ambulance-intended frame-mounted battery box for running an inverter, comms etc. when camping, without running down the starting batteries without the car running. Possibly charged by a 100W solar cell on the roof.
