I asked this question on the early model board and didn't get much of an answer. I was hoping someone here might have more info. I have a 1949 F-3 with a later model rear axle (Dana60) I have the these brakes on it (see below). I'm not sure what they are from. The brake shoes that were on it when I got it were from a 68-72 F250 (based on a long afternoon at the Napa warehouse). You can see the e-brake lever with a short of "C" shaped end. What will attach to it? When I look up the brake cables for the 68-72 f250 the end of the cable is a small ball like most brakes I've ever seen. Is there a piece missing? Has anyone seen this type of lever arm?
That thin self adjuster cable needs to go on the pivot it's next to. It's missing the cable that comes from the foot pedal. There is the front cable that mounts to the pedal. That leads back and connects to the left and right rear cables. Those rear cables go through the brake backing plate on each side and connect up to that big curved lever.
That I understand but if the cable has a small ball welded to the end of it how does it attach to the lever? The lever looks like either something is missing or the cable should have something other then a ball on the end.
Well here's what my 1971 dana 60 4wd rear ebrake looks like..
Hope this helps!!...orich
Orich,
That is about as close to mine as I've seen. The lever is even a similar profile. For some reason the end is different though. Is there any chance that the lever on your truck is two pieces? One for the lever and one for the ball receiver on the end?
