engine help
wanting to replace the engine in my 1990 f150 to a v8 what would be a good engine to put in and would I have to replace the trans in it from the 300 straight 6. it does have 355 gears in back and want o make it carberated instead of injection what all would I have to do thanks Robbie

A 5.0 or 5.8 would bolt to that trans(is it auto or manual) after the frame towers are changed, you would also need a V8 rad and a complete motor for the accessories and such, and the exhaust Y pipe if you planned to keep it relatively stock. Converting it to carb is relatively easy as long as the truck doesn't have one of the computer controlled auto transmissions, strip off the EFI intake and wiring, install a carb intake and Duraspark distributor, wire in an ignition box and install a bypass regulator to bring fuel pressure and volume down to what a carb needs.
