I would like to upgrade my 300 I6, but it seems like fuel injection limits what I can do. I really want to put a DUI on it but DUI said it won't work with computer controlled cars. I also have heard that stock injectors limit hp to about 150 or what it is right now. So I am considering a conversion to a carb. Does any one have any suggestions or tips in doing this? How big of a job is it? Thanks
Converting it to a carb really isn't that difficult.
All you have to do is remove your fuel injection and computer controlled distributor. (if its DIS, pardon me but i've never worked on one of those.)
After you remove your intake manifold you need to install one from a carburated truck, or you can go after market and pick up a 4bbl intake and carb.
For the distributor side of things, just go down to your local auto parts store and order a Duraspark II ingition control box, from around the 80's F-150 and swap it in, but you will have to custom wire your ignition system..so this might be a bit tricky.
