Michelin makes great tires for snow/ice. Little expensive and aren't aggressive looking, but they last forever and have excellent traction in all situations

Yes...one of the few times I would recommend Michelin. Reason...they're siped all the way to the undertread. For that type of driving you don't want a big lugged aggressive tread design.

So it sounds like I should get a winter and summer tire? As the summer I go off road a lot I guess that means I have a excuse to get the skull rims I have been looking at.

I've been very pleased with my BF Goodrich A/T KO's. I've driven through 2 feet of snow with no load on without any problems. And I've driven through 3 feet of snow with 1500 lbs of weight in the bed without problems.

I think they are a good "all around" tire for most conditions. About the only thing they have trouble with is really deep, soft, gummy mud. They do tend to pack up then and not clean off well.

I've run these tires for many years on all of my 4x4's.

deep snow is easy to drive through. pretty much any ol' tire will do the trick in it

what you need a good snow/ice tire for is the thin layer stuff with ice underneath

I have a set of Treadwrights on my 77, and will be putting them on my 02 F350 when the rears are due, not sure if this size will work for you, but I thought I'd throw it out there for ya!

I use bfgoodrich all-terrian KO on my truck and love them good all around tire. We get snow but nothing like you will. I give them another vote!

The KO is indeed a good all around design...however the op specifically mentioned Ice...and for that reason a heavly and deep siped tire is suggested, the KO doesn't offer that.

I'm in the camp of BFGs being overrated because spend so much money on them that they try to justify them at any cost. I am by no means saying they are bad tires.

I agree to a point on that. But you get what you pay for! I get between 50-55k out of my tires so I think I get my monies worth out of them. I could get cheaper tires and only get 25-30k out of them and I wouldn't be happy with that!

Actually the BFG was reasonably priced in that size.
