I removed my ebp tube with a lil too much force and peeled the bracket right off the front of the HPOP. Turns out that I shaved the threads off the nuts on the tube as well and the connector fused into the tube as well. I need to stop thinking that a 30 minute job should take 30 minutes, and budget 3 hours. Anyways, i managed to save and carefully clean the sensor. Man it was plugged up! Called Tousley Weds nite, and I got my parts today...nice!
When I removed the two bolts that hold the bracket, it had a sealant that i need to scrape off. What kind of sealant is this? The parts guy thought that I could just attach the new bracket/plate using the 2 bolts, but I dunno, I think i should use a sealant to prevent leaks. Any one have experience replacing this before? What type of sealant should i use, if any?
I was planning on using anti-seize on the male connectors of ebp tube, so that I may be able to remove a part and actually reuse it, rather than replacing it.
Thanks guys! I figured as much, but wanted to reach out to make sure. I ended up using the black ultra permatex rtv. Bracket is installed and i think i'll let the rtv cure overnight before I tighten the ebp tube nuts fully. Hopefully, no leaks!
