Ok folks, about to fire up the truck in the morning, need to know what this is. I don't remember where it came from when I pulled the batteries out. This connects to a wire in the harness that runs across the radiator. It's black, has it's own loom, but no ring terminal (previous owners....nuff said). Currently the only wires I have on the terminals on the main battery are the main to the starter, main to the 2nd bat, and main to the solenoid (all pos side), and the ground to block and ground to chassis. Best I can figure from checking out a couple schematics a buddy emailed me is that this is the positive for the regulator (alternator). Need a quick confirmation or correction.
Ok, it doesn't seem to be anything that makes the truck run. Truck has been running all day just fine. Full voltage from the alt, starts every time, glow plugs are cycling (based on the fact my dome light pulses if I leave the key on without starting), however my rear abs light is on.
That could just be a ground connection for something. I think I remember seeing a few of those on my truck in various places, and not all connected (ground spot for test light?).
The rear abs light could be a couple things, most people ignore it as the rear abs wasn't really useful when it was working.
I'm not overly worried about the ABS, but I'm wondering if the loose wire has something to do with it. The light wasn't on before I disconnected my batteries. I'm thinking it might be a power wire for the ABS because I never pulled any wires out of the neg terminal, and this wire used to run alongside the pos side of the battery. I'm gonna try some stuff tomorrow and see what happens.
