Largest Tire Size on Stock Excursion

Guys I need help. On a stock Excursion, it seems that 285/75/16 will fit without rubbing from the comments that I have read but has anyone tried a 305/70/16 or 295/75/16 without a lift kit and experienced no rubbing ? Any comments much appreciated.

All i can contribute is my 285/75-16 do fit without any issues on a sagging excursion. Looks like a taller tire (maybe 2" more in diameter) would fit but any wider is where you might have issues.

I know this topic has been brought up six hundred times....

but when you increase the stock size tires, how does it affect the ride?

and is there a chart for how it affects the speedometer?

Thanks.

I ran 305/60/18's on my 4wd with sagging suspension. Using 285/70/18's now.

The ride isn't so bad. Just depends on what tread type you get. I put 60,000 miles on my bfg mud terrain km2. 70% highway pulling my trailer, and about 30% offroad pulling the trailer to a job site. They rode very good for mud terrains with little noise. Running bfg all terrains now and they ride a little bit better than the mud terrains did. But wore out really fast. But I found out they don't like to be run on anything but max pressure while towing. Have 40% tread left on the two rear tires in 30,000 miles pulling the trailer. My father has good years new mud terrains on his 2wd excursion and they are by for the best riding mud terrain and quitest one I've heard yet. But don't know how it performs in the mud. He's never been off pavement since he bought the truck. He just likes the look of mud terrains.

No, but almost everyone has said after switching to 285, their speedometer is almost dead nuts on.
