E-brake pad replacement

Who has changed their ebrake pads on a srw truck? I was going to change mine on my 03 today but when I got the rotor off I could barely see underneath the shoes. Do I have to pull the axle and that housing so the whole system is exposed? Btw I have four wheel discs not rear drums. I know the ebrake system sucks but after resurfasing my shoes they've worn our enough to need repacing, MAYBE new ones will hold a little better. Is there a diagram or better yet a write up on changing these useless things? Thanks for any help.

I just reformatted the Excursion Tech Folder thread. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post11373725

I just added a "how-to" on replacing the e-brake parking shoes.

Click on the link above and scroll down to the brake section and you see the link.

You can go either way. I chose to do it with the axle in place, because I'm better at working in frustrating locations than I am at slinging big iron.

Replace the levers that go from the cable to the actual shoes. Those seize up like slide pins do... and that could be what did your shoes in.
