79 Fuel Tank Question

I have a reg cab long bed and it came with a midship plastic tank. Can I replace it with a steel tank. I can't find a replacement tank and shield that holds it. Thanks.

There is NO one that reproduces that large long shield/support for the plastic tank. The metal tank is held on with 2 straps.
