I was under my superduty doing my annual pre-hunting season maintenance when stupidity bit me. I checked the transfer case fluid and rear axle fluid. While I was under there I thought I would grease the drive shaft slip yok. I unbolted the U-joint caps and and tapped the drive shaft forward. Well my driveway has a pretty good slope to it. Guess what I forgot to do? I forgot to chock the wheels or even put on the parking brake. The truck proceeded to drag me down the driveway and into the street. I tried to grab something so I could just drag along to the bushes across the street couldn't get ahold of anything. The front tire hit me in the middle of the back. It didn't roll over me but I was pinned on my side. One shoulder on the ground and one against the body of the pickup. The tire was pressing against my back. I couldn't move at all and I could only only take short breaths. Luckily my wife was home and the window on the house was open. I couldn't yell very loud at all. She came out and panicked. I told here to put a brick behind the tire. Then she screamed for help. Neighbors came from every direction. They lifted on the front bumper and I was able to roll over to my stomach. Road rash all the way down my left side from face to ankle. Two broken ribs. Lesson learned.
Thanks guys. I got up this morning and I can hardly move. I am so stiff. I kept dreaming about it over and over. I went outside and there are several blood stains in the street. Well at least road rash heals fairly quickly if you keep it clean. I know because I had a bad motorcycle crash last summer. Lost control of my Honda Magna in a curve. Piled up in the ditch at about 65 mph.
V65 magna? I'm looking into getting a magna next year. V45 though. Mid 80's. Glad you're ok, probably going to have some good laughs once the ribs heal eh.
Wow!, Lucky the wife was home to help you out. I was unloading a VW from the trailer by myself. It didn't run so I backed the trailer up to the garage opening and was reaching through the window to steer a little and got caught between the garage opening and door pillar of the VW. Hurt like hell but escaped with no injuries.

An old high school friend of mine died doing this. Got his head caught between the roll bar of the jeep, and garage door frame.
Glad the OP is alright (considering what could have happened).
This is a good reminder how important safety should be exercised, no matter how "routine".
Ya could have been alot worse. If it would have had more momentum when the tire hit me it could have went over. Then who knows what damage it would have done.
Glad you're ok. I always hate being under a vehicle even when I know I have it chocked, blocked, parking brake on, etc.... My father drilled into my head as a kid about this kind of stuff.
Guys please take a few seconds when ever your working on your vehicles to make sure you have secured the vehicle safely, we all know that what can happen will happen.... sometimes saving a few $$$ on a repair at the dealer is not worth your life!!
Wow! Definately one of those "WTF was I thinking momements" I can see myself doing. Kudos to you for having the ***** to share in an effort to help educate others who may get too rushed on the job.
