It happened again...

Well, I finally had my truck back on the road from the last accident. Lots of replacement body parts and went through the engine. Headstuds with OEM gaskets, new oil cooler, stealth EGR delete, all the goodies. Then, two weeks ago this happened in a parking lot while I was getting a few things at the store:

Saturday I looked at a 2012 Ecoboost and it's in the driveway now. Time to sell the never-ending project truck... I'm sorry to be leaving the 6.0L world, I've loved that truck, just don't have time for these projects any more and getting sick of driving a damaged eyesore around. Going for sale as-is.

Thanks to all your input over the years. I'm sure I'll hang around the 6.0L forum still since my dad still has his '03 6.0L, I'll be spending more time up in the F-150 forums though.

For those interested, here is the saga...

cartmanea,

Sorry to see this happen... It makes me sick when people in the parking lots disrespect others vehicles, but this is just crazy.

BTW... Park that EcoBoost in the very back of the parking lot... That's what I do!

I was parked about as far from the store as I could get. The guy fell asleep or had a blood sugar issue or something. He seemed really out of it after piling into my pickup at 15-20 mph.

What a bummer You have helped soooo many people out over here, it's going to be a big loss to not have you around as a regular....

Congrats on the F150! It'll be interesting your thoughts on it coming from a 6.0...

Good luck and hope the 6.0 sells quick so you don't have to look at it and feel bad...

Yep, didn't drive it for almost two years. Took a while to rebuild since it was at my dad's shop about 5 hours away. I spent about one weekend a month on it. Yeah, it got a replacement cab. Between the different rebuilds, the only original body part is the left rear door. I'm really wishing I hadn't rebuilt it last time.

Didn't the guy have insurance? You do know who he is. You should be able to get it repaired free gratis unless I missed something.

Yes he had insurance, dealing with them now. I've been thinking about the F-150 for a while now, so it seemed like a good time rather than mess with collision shops and driving a rental or rebuilding it myself. Getting a check from his insurance for the damage and going to sell it as-is.

Sorry to see this. You have spent a lot of "hands on time" on your truck.

Hope you do hang around, you have provided a lot of help around here.

I was just at Ford and sat in a new F150. I think they have done a great job on them. I didn't want to get out!!!

I too am sorry to see you go. You've been a great contributor. I guess in the long term scheme of things we are all here on a temporary basis.

For those interested, here is the saga...

Bought wrecked, first rebuild:

When a F-150 ran a stop sign in front of me:

After the last repairs, hit some nasty ice on I-84 and laid it over after it tried scaling the center barrier:

Pics from the last rebuild:

Sure brought back a lot of memories going through all those!

The Carfax must be ridiculously long. Enjoy your new truck and good luck with the sale. It looks like they'll be getting a good truck with minimal damage.
