Yep, the automotive shows on spiketv (trucks, horsepower, extreme4x4, etc) have shown that device numerous times. When i do my brakes, that's what i am getting
If I didn't have a Mity Vac already, I think I'd be buying one. But since I do, it's kinda hard for me to justify $60 for a tool that I'll only use a couple times. But then again, it's a tool... And I like tools.
So I'm wondering what I must be doing wrong... I put the vac to the RH rear brake first, and I got a few oz of nasty fluid out then it seems like just mostly air. And yes, the reservoir is full. The only reason I'm doing this is since I just bought the Ex I'm flushing all the old fluids just because, not because of an idiot light. When the lovely Mrs. gets home, maybe I'll have her push the brake pedal for me and try it that way.
So instead of using my pump to suck out the old, nasty brake fluid (and boy oh boy was it nasty... Probably the original 2002 stuff) I just followed Stewart's directions exactly. And whaddayaknow, it worked perfectly! I wonder if there's a lesson in there somewhere?
Its because the air is getting past the bleeder threads. That is why pressure bleeders work better. You can try a rubber fitting in place of the bleeder or wrap teflon on the bleeder threads to try and stop the air from getting in.
When I bought my set of stainless braided hoses I also got a set of Russell Speed Bleeders, bleeder screws with an internal check valve Russell Performance - Truck/SUV Speed Bleeders I haven't installed either the hoses or bleeders yet, been putting it off till I get around to swapping in the other front axle housing. Just another option for brake bleeding without a helper, but I like that pressure bleeder too.
