Well had her for alittle over a week, just hit 500 mile and we're ready for the holiday weekend. I'll let you guys know how it pulls. Estimated weight 4,000 - 4,500lbs.
It's not that it wasn't available, it did shift into 6th once or twice. While accelerating up to 65-70 mph when speed leveled off so to speak it wanted to stay in 5th and not shift, I tried to back off the pedal a little but speed just declined with no shift to 6th. Only time it did shift was going down a slight decline. Only thing I can think of is I did have a pretty good head wind heading into a storm. Just would have thought it would shifted with only 4500 lbs and open trailer.
I don't spend much time in tow/haul mode to be honest. I use it when I'm on back roads or in stop-and-go traffic, but on the interstate I vastly prefer the manual mode. How do you like the new truck so far?
Congrats on the truck! Mine goes into 6th all the time even when towing the boat (4200 lbs.) The ecoboost is great for towing...night and day difference from my old Sequoia with the 4.7L V8!
Truck seems like a little torque monster, we'll see how iy shifts tomorrow on the ride home. One thing I really like is that I don't have to rev the hell out of the motor to have it do what I want it to do, just like my 6.7.
Well, made it up here and finally found some Internet. First off, very impressed with this truck. I was able to tow at 70mph easily, and still got roughly 10mpg doing so. It was a very comfortable tow for me. It's nice to see this thing not rev the hell outta itself. Two things I will need in the near future, Timbrens/Air bags and a WD setup.
Well i think I have 6th gear figured out, on my 6.7 when I came up to speed I simply had to steady my foot and it would drop right into 6th gear. On the new Ecoboost I have to come up to speed or a little over the speed I wanted, then lift my foot somewhat more than usual and it shifts right in to 6th. Combined city and highway driving I was able to average around 10.8mpg on the center screen which is not accurate but it was pretty close on 6.7 so if it's any where close to that I'm happy.
