From Powerstroke to Ecoboost!

Hi everyone! I'm new to the 2009+ F-150 forum, but I've been on FTE ever since buying my '03 6.0L project truck. Bought it wrecked and rebuilt it. Two years later someone ran a stop sign in front of me, rebuilt it again. Late 2010 I laid it over on some nasty ice on I-84, just finished that rebuild early this year (working at my dad's shop 5 hours away). Well, a couple weeks ago, some idiot piled into the side of the cab in a parking lot. I decided not to rebuild it again, just getting tired of it.

Took the insurance check and selling it as-is and found a nice 2012 F-150 XLT SuperCrew 6.5' bed for a good price. Ecoboost, XLT Plus, Off Road, and Towing Packages. 28k miles and other than the bed showing it's been used, very good condition. Local dealership took it on trade, it's a Ford Certified Pre-Owned vehicle with a 12yr/12k comprehensive warranty and 7yr/100k powertrain warranty. I was talked into a 7yr/100k CompleteCare warranty for $2200, but am still thinking about cancelling that.

Anyway, here's a quick pic I took in the driveway, with my PowerStroke in the background. So far so good, rides way better than the SuperDuty! Only issue right now is what I believe is a tire vibration at 45-50 mph (back left box corner is bouncing), could be the driveline issue some have, but crossing my fingers and getting it checked out later this week.

Congrats on the truck! Sorry to hear about the last unit getting wrecked so many times... you probably could rebuild it with your eyes closed at that point.

I went from and OBS F150, to an OBS F250 PSD then an OBS F350 PSD to my current '13 f150 and aside from the smell of diesel, I don't miss it. It was more capacity than i needed and the ride was crap compared to the new trucks.

Enjoy

Holy crap! You wrecked it again!? Lol
I would've given up after the first time so kudos to you. I traded my 6.0 in for my Ecoboost a few weeks ago, you're going to love this thing. I just got back from towing 7k lbs 800 miles with mine over the weekend. Awesome truck.

Hah, yeah, but to be clear, I wasn't in it this time. Walked out of the store to the scene below. I'm convinced the truck is cursed, not me

For those interested, here is the saga...

Bought wrecked, first rebuild:

At it's prime:

When a F-150 ran a stop sign in front of me:

After the last repairs, hit some nasty ice on I-84 and laid it over after it tried scaling the center barrier:

Pics from the last rebuild:

The last straw:

Sure brought back a lot of memories going through all those!

Wow Ean, congratulations on the new truck! Really enjoying the irony here, your new truck is just about identical to mine.

Yeah, I noticed that Tom Not going to lie, I'm a little sad to let the 6.0L go, but the F-150 rides way better!

Yeah it does, I really like mine. And you finally got your crew cab! That has more room in the back than that smashed up hulk you bought a couple of years ago from WI!

I remember following your awesome rebuild stories. Congrats on the new truck and welcome to the F-150 portion of FTE!

I think the country song goes something like this: "If you go through hell, get out before the devil even knows you're there".

In other words, be vewy, vewy careful with that thar new rig!

There are some cars that just have a bulls eye on them. My wife had a 2008 Toyota 4runner berfore she got the F-150, and she was in three wrecks that were someone elses fault in two years. She has had the F-150 for two years without a scratch.

No kidding, the back seat area is huge! I almost wish they shortened the cab 6" and gave it a little more box. A buddy of mine was looking at it and I flipped up the back seat and he said "Holy cow, you could fit a washer and dryer back there!" He has an extended cab Tacoma

Back seats are bigger than the superduty length wise, but not as wide.
