If you add air conditioning, I would be you wont be adding an original kit. If anything you would probably add a vintage air kit, which doesn't require a hole that sized at all.
Yeah I think your right because the factory A/C unit is like the size of a Honda civic motor lol. I have an "under dash" mount unit in the garage but it needs the compressor, hoses, drier, condenser etc.
9th pony build thread has some nice pics of a/c cover installed,he went with nastalgic air ac system therfore eliminating original engine a/c box,,,I might pic up some of the eastwood stuff with the long tube to get down deep into the cab,,,,
Yeah man this Eastwood stuff is the real deal. The frame coating is neon green so when you shine a flash light in the area your coating you can see if you missed anything. Here is a video on there stuff. Buy it and I think you will agree that its really good.
Well today I started the removal of my cab. Its always easier to just start pulling stuff off. I think its going to take twice as long to put it all back in. It took me 2 hours to get as far as I am now.
Just figured out how to get the shifter off. It can be a pain in the butt if you don't know how it is removed. push down on the upper coupling and unscrew at the same time. Its spring loaded.
I got my cab lifted off. It didn't come out as I would have liked but it's out. The problem that I had was getting the cab to stay level with my cherry picker. It seemed like as I lifted up it was always front heavy, luckily the cab I'm taking off is going to a scrap yard because It got pretty damaged. I also found that my cross member has missing bolts on it and my transmission bellhousing screws were finger tight so there are somethings I'm going to have to cleanup and tighten before I put the new cab on.
Today I bolted the cab to the frame. I was going to clean up a few more things but my garage was packed with doors, 2 cabs and the entire truck so I needed to get the cab off the floor. Now the time consuming little things need to be installed but the grunt work is done thank God.
