ive got a 2000 v-10 excursion with 111k. Never had a problem like this before but last week I was driving home an noticed the theft light blinking while I was driving. Got home shut it off. next morning went to start it and nothing! when the doors open it makes a clicking noise under the dash. if I jump it the truck will start right up. If the batt is disconnected them re-connected it will start once until turned off and then nothing until its disconnected again. I ve got an elk hunt in 2 weeks and need to figure it out! ANY help would be greatly appreciated fellas, Thanks!!
Sounds to me more like a battery problem then anything. When you disconnect it and put it back on the truck must have just enough juice to start it that one time. I would get a new battery. If not maybe a starter but to me the battery sounds more like it.

no problem. Plus a new battery won't hurt nothing other then maybe your wallet but since the truck is going on an elk hunt hopefully you will get a big one and that will pay it back.

Get yourself a multi-meter ($3.00 @ HarbourFreight, $ 10 @ WalMart) . A good battery (ignition off, at battery terminals ) should be in the neighborhood of 12.3- 12.7 Volt DC. If it is under 12.3 Volt, you will need a new battery . At that time ,you can also check your alternator output ( car is idling , mutimeter probes at battery terminals) , you should be getting 13.5 -15 Volt DC .
Once you eliminate 1- bad battery , 2-bad alternator , then, you might focus on your anti-theft system (like disabling it ,see if it fixes starting problems)

Good luck,
Like bently said you can't just do that. If you bring your battery to autozone or similar for them to test it you will notice that they load test it. I have had batterys had 12.7 or so volts on it on voltmeters put it in a truck and nothing. There wasn't enough power for it to even crank over a lawn tractor. Although a good voltmeter or multimeter laying around is nice for him right away just doesn't seem practical. You can buy battery load testers (like the ones at autozone) at summit racing and such places. It more then likely is just an old battery that needs replacing.
