Ok I have a 1977 f150 4x4 with a 360 under the hood, first off would someone tell me what year of truck this motor came out of. My power steering pump went bad, so I replaced it, after I replaced it the annoying noise stopped, and put in mind this is a re manufactured pump. But if u drive it down the road its gotta mind of its own, and for example if your parked with the truck running and barely move the wwheel to the left or right, then take ur hands off it wants to just keep spinning either way until at full turn, several people told me it may be the gearbox. Also if u drive down the road and come up on a curve going right, u slighty turn the wheel right, if u take ur hands off the wheel, ur hittin the right ditch. All I know is I need help being that this truck is my only vehicle and my daily driver. Thanks alot everyone
Sounds like the pump may have too high of pressure for the gear box. There's suppose to be a pressure valve in the pump to prevent that from happening. Do you have a plastic reservoir or a metal one?
As far as the 360 goes, there's no telling. Depending on the build date, it could be original to the truck. It was a VERY popular engine for our trucks.

No, it couldn't be original to the truck. The FE series (360-390) engines were dropped after the '76 model year and replaced by the 351M-400.
It will be swapped in and you are correct, the 360 was a very popular engine. And there is no effective way of telling what year the engine is.
