I just bought what is supposed to be a 1959 F100 out of California. They previous owner says the 1959 hood and grille are original to the truck. The problem is the VIN, F10J0R26579, denotes it as a 1960. I asked the PO about it and he claims that for the first half of the 1960 model year that the trucks had the 1959 hood/grille. Is there any truth to this or is it total BS? Thanks, Jim
They did crazy stuff with parts for truck back then. I've seen 61 and 62 model years with 57 58 59 60 beds. They really look funny. Anything is possible.
Load of B.S.!
The two year models were complete redesign from each other & I've yet to come across any company Memos that state that this took place.

Col Flashman, short of the grille and hood, what other differences are there from 1959 to 1960? I'm new to these so please help educate me. Also, where can the VIN be found on these trucks? This has no motor/trans so I can't look on those. Thanks, Jim
The VIN is on the plate on the inside of the glovebox door. It should also be on top of the front frame rail somewhere ahead of the firewall and behind the radiator support on the top of the passenger side. Often hard to find the second location.
