New '60 F 100
Hi all, a newbie here! I just signed the paperwork on my 1960 F 100. Mine has a '59 grill and hood, which is fine with me. The '59 is the F 100 I first fell in like with! A question; are there cases of a late '59 being titled as a 1960 or an early '60 carrying '59 grill and hood? Could be a previous owner liked the look, too. I'm just trying to figure that out. Anyone know?

After 40 some years of owning and working on Fords, I still learn new things. But I would be interested to know if there are any well documented cases of civilian trucks leaving the factory titled as 1960 but with 59 grille/hoods.

F10 = F100
J = 223ci 6Cyl 1BC Carburetor 1959-60
0 = 1960
K = Kansas City, MO
16071 = Production Sequence (Series #)
Key Information 1959-60
1959: The major styling changes on the 1959 trucks consisted of a woven nylon saran seat upholstry, foam rubber seat padding, sound deadening material, two-tone paint on the doors and the instrument panel, a left door armrest, a white steering wheel with a chrome horn ring, a passenger's side visor, an illuminated cigal lighter, a chrome grille, headlight bezels, parking light rims and windshield moldings, and matched door locks. A Custom Cab emblem was located on each door.
1960: The 1960 trucks featured a new grille that incorporated quad headlight bezels. The hood also got new sculpturing and new side ornamentation. Several minor improvements appeared, such as modified door latches, new door seals, a redesigned armrest, a redesigned wiring harness with multiplug sockets, and a cowlside fuse box and circuit breaker box.
My guess is you have a 1960 that someone put a 1959 front clip on. The sequence number seems awfully high to be an early 1960 that used up left over 1959 parts.

I would guess the front clip has been changed. I'm not positive, but I think Ford only used that flat bumper on the '57s and '58s. So, if the better looking (IMHO) original bumper has been discarded for that older style, there was probably some frontal damage that was repaired with the most convenient/cost conscious parts available.
Post more pics when you can. That's a nice looking truck!

It's a darn nice looking truck at any rate. Of the 4 years, the 60 is my least favorite grill so I think the 59 looks just fine.
IH ii the only manufacturer that I know of who titled the trucks as year sold or carried over the last years model with the next years title. A lot of the old motorhomes like Winnebago did that and they were a nightmare to work on. Sometimes those chassis sat 2 years before they got built

Well, I picked up my pickup today! Met the transport about 80 miles from my home and drove it back. It was 1 above but dry roads. Man, I HAVE to get the hang of that single **** heater/defroster/fan speed ****! It's not flawless but looks as good as the pictures and most importantly, I LIKE it.
