its a 84 f150 4 speed 4x4. barely runs and i mean barely chugs at 300 rpms and kills over the PO created a vacuum leak to basically get it to idle at about 800. after i plugged the vacuum leak it wont idle i checked all the hoses and lines they are solid and not cracked something tells me its feedback carb i need to figure out something to bandaide it for a month or so till oct when i can get my intake and new carb any ideas?
Check the choke and make sure it is opening properly. If having a vacuum leak helps it to run better, then the mixture is too rich.
There is a sensor which is mounted in the thermostat housing. This tells the computer what temperature the engine is. If disconnected, the computer "thinks" the engine is cold and "tells" the carburetor to run richer [in addition to the mechanical choke].
Also, if the O2 sensor is not working properly [disconnected?], the computer will have the carburetor run rich as well as preventing any ignition advance.
there is a tps and two other sensors i unhooked all of them except the tps there is no o2 sensor on the exhaust i dont know if it came with one i spray a bunch of carb cleaner into the carb hoping to clean it out
