Looking for the wood grain for tailgate on a 72 Ranger XLT
This is a 3M product It would have a code or part number beginning with WGXXXX or FWXXXX Three to four numbers follow the letters WG or FW
Do not say Wood'N Carr in signal hill carries this because they don't. They have WOOD they do not carry nor do the stock Di-Noc 3M
I've spoken with them over the phone, I sent emails with pictures of what I need and in both correspondence I was told they do not carry this.
The Burl Walnut which I believe is the proper grain must have a code number.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have but without the number they can only guess. If the email I was told is being sent, then I will have contact information. Then I can arrange a meeting with their rep who will look at my tailgate and give me his best guess at a part number.
Thank you.
Thank you for that link. After looking it over I know the wood grain on the panel is not "Burl Walnut" It might be a walnut grain but not Burl.
Tried to rep you but the board said I can't. Need to spread it around

I don't know the answer to your question but with so many guys hunting for that panel their has to be replacement wood vinyl out there to find. Repro joints or Phoenix Graphics maybe?
I think the ultimate alternative is to contact a sign shop/sign contractor that can spec 3M products. They can do the layout on a computer and then cut out out using CNC (computer numeric control) machine.

I have two panels I'm restoring so I want the grain to be a perfect match.
Ask for samples and You can get something close to the side trim. Still might not be an exact match, but once installed on the truck no one will be able to tell the difference.
I appreciate all the help and comments regarding wood grain. Below is a picture of the correct wood grain. And that's what I'm looking for. I restore old Ford parts and my goal is to make them look original or better. When I'm done with these two panels they will look like original if not better. I will be replacing the wood grain on the panel below if I damage it in any way, while I am repairing the outer edge. Some of you make think I'm crazy but my work speaks for itself.
These panels will be perfect when done.

Like i said ask them for samples. Your no more meticulous about restoring these Ford cars and trucks than I am. I get hounded on here all the time for trying to be original and correct.

Hounded for "restoring" something instead of "upgrading"? Both you guys stand your ground. I'll stand shoulder to shoulder with ya. I appreciate what you guys are doing. Opinions are like belly buttons. I say.......Salute!
