I just bought a repo'd 1989 f250 4x4 ex. cab completely stock and unmolested 7.3idi for $1501. Anyway I have had a couple of these old natural aspirated ford diesel and was wondering if I could get stock f350 front leaf springs to level the truck more without having to buy drop brackets for the pos Dana 50 ttb.
I did that and it worked, I gained about an inch, but I've read that the 350 springs are softer and will break down faster if you put them in the 250, and I noticed that on my truck.
the 350 has a solid front axle, both springs hold up the whole front togeter, where on a 250, they just hold up one side.
You need the drop brackets to correct the camber when lifting a TTB.
Putting the 350 springs on your TTB will screw up your alignment and tires so its not really a viable solution for lifting the truck.
The 250 TTB springs are heavier duty because they have to deal with more twisting from the TTB setup than a solid axle does.
The ones I got were out of a upull it yard from an old service truck so they might be a little broke down, they sit straight, I had my alighment checked after and they were able to get it right,
F350 springs sit straight under the 7.3. If you want lift get an add-a-leaf, or do yourself a favor and go back to that JY and get the Dana 60 too. Add a Sky mfg shackle reversal kit and do it right, plus about 4" of lift!
